Job enjoyment diary
What do I actually enjoy doing at work?
A road block for many people is being able to articulate what they enjoy doing at work.
It can be tough saying what you like and what you don’t like at work.
You may be in a position where you are unsure what you want to do or you have a good idea about the destination, but you’re not clear on what job might take you there.
That’s where the enjoyment diary comes in.
The enjoyment diary is a simple tool to help you track what you like and don’t like:
- Everyday you write down what you did
- And whether you liked it or not
Where the enjoyment diary comes into its own is when we pair it with some reflective questions on your diary.
It gives you data to conduct a simple self-assessment of what it is you enjoy doing.
Our recommendation is to keep a simple diary for two weeks using our template and then use the reflective questions to complete your self-assessment.
Use the exercise to inform your career goals
Once you have completed your job enjoyment diary you should have a much better idea of what you like to do.
The career goals template can then help you capture what your career goals are.
